I currrently offer tick-box critiques of both short fiction (up to 3,000 words) and poetry. The tick-box form is designed to flag the problems commonly seen by editors and judges, and comes with generic notes on how to avoid or correct them - and there's also space for comments specific to the poem or story in hand.
These critiques are a cost-effective way of getting quick feedback on work in progress, or a useful last-minute check before sending entries off to competitions or submissions to potential publishers - and often that's enough to pinpoint the issues that need attention and set the writer off on the right track.
Charges are as follows:
- Short fiction (up to 3,000 words): £10.50
- Poem (up to 60 lines): £6.50

For a more in-depth analysis of your work's strengths and weaknesses than can be provided using a tick-box form, and for longer pieces of work such as whole novels, poetry collections and non-fiction books, I also provide mentoring time in five-hour blocks.
